Dr. R. David Lankes, Professor, Syracuse University iSchool, “New Roles for Librarians,” with Q& A
Summary. The mission of librarians is to improve society through facilitating knowledge creation in
their communities. It is a broad remit, but one that applies to librarians in small and large libraries.
Indeed it applies to librarians with no library at all. This talk will outline a robust librarianship
committed to our values, and instilling those values in the communities we serve.
