Award Opportunities

DMIL offers the following two award opportunities:

1.  Distinguished Service Award
This award recognizes a Military Libraries Division member for outstanding and sustained service to DMIL.  It was first awarded in December 1999 at the MLD Workshop in Williamsburg, VA.  The award consists of a certificate of achievement and/or a presentation gift.  Nominees must be members of the Military Libraries Division.  Membership eligibility of the nominees will be verified.  Awards are presented annually at the Special Libraries Association Annual Conference and/or at the Military Libraries Workshop Business Meeting.

2.  Student Stipend Award– Military Libraries Workshop
This award is targeted to a student in an accredited at Master’s level Library Science/Library Information Science program.  The awardee must agree to give a minimum of ten hours of volunteer work at the annual Military Libraries Workshop and write an article for distribution in the DMIL newsletter and other media.  In return, DMIL agrees to waive the MLW registration fee and provide up to $1500.00 stipend for the hotel and transportation to the MLW meeting.
