Speaking of board elections… Are you a forward thinking, good communicator with experience in SLA, or do you know someone who fits this description? If so, the SLA Nominating Committee is looking for you and your colleagues!  We are providing an opportunity for members to take their leadership skills to the next level.  Nominate yourself or a colleague to serve in one of the following leadership positions:

  • President-elect;
  • Chapter Cabinet Chair-Elect;
  • Division Cabinet Chair-Elect; or
  • Director (2 positions)

The committee is seeking 10 candidates–two for each of the positions (four for Director)–to stand for election in September 2016 and begin serving in January 2017. Nominations must be received by 15 October 2015. Details about the responsibilities for each position can be found on SLA’s Web site at https://www.sla.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/BoardPositionDescriptions.pdf.

EJSCREEN: Environmental Justice Screening and Mapping Tool | US EPA

220px-Environmental_Protection_Agency_logoIn order to better meet the Agency’s responsibilities related to the protection of public health and the environment, EPA has developed a new environmental justice (EJ) mapping and screening tool called EJSCREEN. It is based on nationally consistent data and an approach that combines environmental and demographic indicators in maps and reports.EJSCREEN users choose a geographic area; the tool then provides demographic and environmental information for that area. All of the EJSCREEN indicators are publicly-available data. EJSCREEN simply provides a way to display this information and includes a method for combining environmental and demographic indicators into EJ indexes.
