DC-Area Student Volunteers at the 2017 Military Libraries Training Workshop (MLTW). Deadline for volunteering is No Later Than 11.16.2017.

The Military Libraries Training Workshop (MLTW) is the major training opportunity provided by the Military Libraries Division (DMIL) of SLA.

MLTW 2017 will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington, Virginia from Tuesday, December 5th through Thursday, December 7th, 2017.

DC-Area, locally living Library Science students may volunteer at and attend MLTW free of charge.

APPLICANT QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS and RULES and GUIDELINES:

  • The fee for DC-Area, locally living Library Science students who volunteer at MLTW will be waived.
  • No travel funds will be provided. Must be able to travel to and from the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington, VA each day without financial assistance. The address is as follows:
    • 300 Army Navy Drive
    • Arlington, VA 22202
  • Student volunteers are invited to partake of food provided during daytime programs (Breakfast, Am & PM Breaks, Lunches) between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:30 pm, free of charge.
  • Applicant must be a DC-area, locally living Library Science student in an accredited Master’s level Library Science/Library Information Science program at the time of MLTW. This includes
    • students who attend Library and Information Science schools in the DC-area, and
    • online students who live in the DC-area but whose schools are not in the DC-area.
    • Must agree to give a minimum of ten (10) hours of volunteer work at MLTW.
    • Must agree to write an article for the DMIL website.
    • Deadline for volunteering is No Later Than 11.16.2017.
    • Accepted volunteers informed No Later Than 11.30.2017.
  • Nominations accepted only in email format.
