“Five Reasons to Attend MLTW 2017” by Pat Alderman

1) Overall Theme: Moving Forward: Exemplary Service and Leadership

If we don’t provide relevant, quality services, our patrons will go to someone else. Libraries can lead, follow, or get shoved out of the way. Find some new tricks about leadership or how to provide meaningful services to the communities we serve.

2) Tuesday, 5 December: Exemplary Service

Vendors! Listen to the vendors in the “Two Minute Spot” and learn what exemplary services they can help you provide. Talk to them to find out how to maximize the products or services you already own.

3) Wednesday, 6 December: Innovation/IT

Have you heard of the cloud, SAS [Software as a Service], or some other form of cloud-speak? Did you know that FedRAMP [the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program] has to approve any cloud service you may want to implement? Come hear John Hamilton provide a FedRAMP overview.

4) Thursday, 7 December: Leadership and Management

Attend the poster sessions to see what other libraries are doing well, or hear a panel of current and former library directors talk about what some of their leadership travails and solutions have been.

5) WIIFM What’s In It for Me

You won’t know unless you register and attend. Click here for more info about MLTW: http://military.sla.org/mltw2017/
