LITA web course: Building Web Applications, an Intro to HTML5

There is still time to register for the LITA web course “Building Web Applications with HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript: An Introduction to HTML5” presented by Jason Clark. This course consists of four live lectures 11:00 am – 1:00 pm CDT and beings Friday, August 2 and concludes on August 9.

In this workshop, we’ll look at some of the possibilities, trends, and enhancements that HTML5, CSS3, and the new Javascript APIs enable. As a workshop deliverable, we’ll talk through the specifics of implementation and work through building a prototype HTML5 application (e.g., http://goo.gl/GA2vH). (Note: The course will be a mix of lecture and demos alongside hands-on exercises in building the prototype application.)

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  •     Understand and apply HTML5 markup
  •     Create design and behaviors with CSS3
  •     Work with Javascript to apply behavior and functionality using the new Javascript APIs
  •     Use a simple web service to bring multiple sources of data together
