Paid Internship at Federal Reserve! – Location Washington, D.C. Application Deadline May 15, 2017.

The Research Library at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is offering a paid summer internship for graduate level library or information science students. The Research Library offers a full array of desktop and customized library services to staff members at the Board and assists in data intensive and web-dependent Board Research.

The Research Library intern will help improve library services to the Board research and professional community. The intern will work on several of the following projects that represent a good mix of back-end/maintenance and front-end/public-facing tasks:

*       Bibliographic maintenance – Assist in evaluating and replacing URLs for Gift & Exchange resources in the Library’s Integrated Library System (ILS). In addition, should the intern’s course work and knowledge be sufficient, the intern will work in the ILS to enhance brief bibliographic serial records that were automatically loaded into the ILS.
*       Data – Work on one or several projects related to the library’s data initiative: creating marketing materials to promote new data mapping tools; compiling a list of critically important data vendors; and working with the library’s subject taxonomy and authority information to populate a SharePoint list.
*       Current Awareness – the intern will explore ways to improve and enhance the Library’s SharePoint-based Bank and Broker Newsletter service.

The internship is located in Washington, D.C. and lasts ten to twelve weeks and is full time (40 hours per week during working hours). Students enrolled in a Master’s degree program in library or information science at an ALA-accredited institution are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a knowledge of and interest in technology, metadata, and business research. Knowledge of economics, banking, finance, or business topics is highly desirable.
