Summary. Many of you have heard about attempts to provide access to federal R&D results at no
additional cost to taxpayers. The White House has mandated transparency and federal agencies,
including DoD, have developed public access plans. Economic issues abound due commercial and
professional journal publishers’ and database providers’ need to produce revenue using the current
model. Come and hear about the Defense Department’s plan for meeting White House requirements.
• Learn about the progress in the Department and DTIC’s role.
• Find out how this can affect your work, acquisition, and ordering.
• Understand the limits, both on time and information plus how to access materials this new way.
• Get the basics of the coming Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) implications on access
and preparation of current limited/sensitive content.
