Dear Residents,

The University Libraries have established a two-year Post MLS Diversity Residency program to provide growth and development for a newly degreed librarian who has a demonstrated commitment to diverse and historically underrepresented populations. The purpose of the Residency program is to attract a recent graduate to the challenging and rewarding career of academic librarianship.

In the first year, the Resident will work in multiple functional areas to be determined mutually by the Resident’s interests and the needs of the Libraries. In the second year, the Resident will develop specialized expertise by focusing on one functional unit. The Resident will be expected to plan and execute a major project during the second year. Residents will provide service and gain valuable experience in multiple facets of academic librarianship through this process. The Resident will serve on library committees as appropriate, including the Diversity Committee and search committees.
